There appears to be a lively feud brewing between comics-world superstars Frank Miller and Alan Moore, sparked by their very different views on the Occupy Wall Street movement. Both authors are throwing around some pretty inflammatory statements, but I think Miller sounds notably crazier... so go Team Moore!

I never thought that I'd like Miller over Moore, but I'm (sort of) with Miller. Every Occupy story I've heard has been of someone who made bad decisions, is lazy and self-indulgent, or otherwise similarly unsympathetic. However, I cannot really agree with Miller's wording; it seems unnecessarily aggressive. But hey, so do his comics. :-P

I live about a mile from a OWS encampment, and (judging by my daily walk through the area, which I realize is not exactly a scientific study) the campers are a mixture of legit protesters, teens and young adults enjoying the bohemian atmosphere, and people who, for whatever reason, are homeless and/or mentally unstable. They're a very mixed bag, but they've been there for over a month without major incident, so I was actually kind of amused by Miller describing them as an "unruly mob" of "louts, thieves, and rapists". I mean, he's a hardcore comic writer! How can someone who writes such aggressively dark, violent stuff be so pearl-clutchingly horrified by a group of college kids, activists, and homeless people? I'm not saying the encampments are perfect (or even particularly effective, but that's a entirely different discussion), but I don't buy them as French-Revolution-style chaos, either.
