Seriously, he was the worst.

Town and Country magazine recently posted an absolutely fascinating essay by Paula McClain about the career of Martha Gellhorn, a journalist and war correspondent who was also Ernest Hemingway's third wife. Gellhorn sounds like an extraordinary woman (with extraordinarily terrible taste in husbands), and this essay serves as a great introduction to McClain's novel about her life.
