Unnecessary, but to be expected

According to Deadline, Disney is planning a live-action movie adaptation of E.T.A. Hoffman's The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The film will be directed by Lasse Hallstrom, and called The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. This feels like a missed opportunity to me: see, I grew up with this version of The Nutcracker (which really played up the story's creepy weirdness), so I would have been far, far happier with Tim Burton directing this movie, rather than wreaking havoc on Through The Looking Glass.
