Crafty! But evil.

I've been reading (and enjoying) Jenny Trout's coverage of the Laura Harner scandal. For anyone who missed this story, Harner is a prolific author of romance novels with homosexual pairings. She has recently been accused of plagiarizing several of her stories from writers of heterosexual romance novels. If Trout is to be believed, there's not a lot of crossover between the two fandoms, but clearly somebody cottoned on, because Harner's books have been disappearing online. While I obviously disapprove of her behavior (stealing is wrong, kids!), I'm mostly stunned that this kind of theft is still possible. In an era of e-books and auto-searches, I'd assume the kind of shameless plagiarism featured in these articles would raise early red flags.
