A recent Jezebel article pointed me in the direction of the New York Public Library's Reference and Research Services' Instagram feed. The library has been featuring the contents of a box of queries from the 1940s through the 1980s (using the hashtag #letmelibrarianthatforyou), and the results are glorious. What was the origin of bedsheets? Or the life cycle of an eyebrow hair? And can you imagine being paid to find out?
