The Game of Thrones fan site Winter Is Coming informs me that India is planning its own TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin's wildly popular series. It won't be an exact remake—it's more "inspired by" Martin's books, and will be set in the real world during a large-scale rebellion against colonial forces in 1857, and focus mainly on the Daenerys Targaryen character (or her equivalent, anyway).
