A mystery/romance told entirely through letters (which have to be taken out of the book and read) and lushly illustrated postcards, Canadian author Nick Bantock’s
Griffin and Sabine stories are the only coffee-table-style books that I’ve ever seen anyone actually
read. Bantock's series is weak on plot and character development--Bantock trained as a painter, not a writer--but eavesdropping on someone else’s correspondence (and ooh-ing over the lavishly pretty illustrations and stamps) is so much fun that the series’ flaws are easy to overlook.
